The beautiful town of Windsor is situated on the River Thames, just west of London. It has recently become famous for the royal wedding of Harry and Megan Markle, but it has a long royal past. ON this 90 minute walking tour, your English speaking tour guide will show you around many of these famous (and some not so famous), royal landmarks.You will meet outside Barclays bank, before heading off to Bachelor’s Acre to see the statue of the UK’s current reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II and her corgis. It is then onto the Victoria barracks, where your guide will tell you all about the statue to the fallen Irish guardsmen that is placed there.We then head off to the see the Two Brewers pub, which was established in 1792, although the building dates 1709. It can be found on Park Street, which is said to be one of the most architecturally distinguished streets, and oldest streets in Windsor.
The Long Walk is a famous landmark in Windsor, and you will stop with your guide to take in the magnificent views and to hear about Windsor Castle’s State rooms.
After a stop at the bricked in windows to hear about the ‘Window tax’, a visit to Henry VIII’s gate for a view of the round tower. Then you will see Charles I’s warrant of execution plaque from 1649, you head off to Windsor Parish Church of St John the Baptist Guildhall, before finishing your tour.
