Mixing time travel with history and romance, the bestselling series of novels Outlander has inspired a hit TV show of the same name and brought a lot of attention to the period and location where the story takes place – 18th century Scotland.
Edinburgh Outlander Experience is a thrilling walking tour of Edinburgh inspired by the books and series that will delight Outlander enthusiasts and non-fans alike! Focusing on the Jacobite rebellion, this walk will be visiting some of the filming locations of the TV show. Your knowledgeable guide will reveal stories of the Royal Stuarts, Jacobite members, clans and even witchcraft – all this as you get to relive the love story between Claire and Jamie, Outlander’s leading characters.
You’ll see Canongate Kirk, a parish built in in the late 17th century; the place where the Old Tolbooth Prison once stood and the World’s End, a pub named after the City Walls that once surrounded Edinburgh. As much of the second Outlander novel is based in Edinburgh, this tour serves as a fascinating behind-the-scenes look, as well as a thorough insight into the social and political unrest of the Jacobite era.
